AutHer Awards 2023 Longlists Unveiled, Honoring Outstanding Female Authors in India

A distinguished team of judges unveiled the AutHer Awards 2023 Longlists today for the most outstanding female authors in fiction, nonfiction, children's literature, and debut. The Times of India received stunning 2000+ entries for the prestigious national prize, the first of its kind in India, from publishers and individual authors.

The AutHer Awards, a collaboration between JK Paper and Times of India, honour female authors who have contributed to the literary world with their innovation and worth. Women's novels published in India between December 2021 and November 2022 were taken into consideration by the Jury.

Sonali Bendre Behl, an actress and author of fiction, author Vikram Sampath, debut author Priti Paul, and author Ranjit Lal, an author of children's literature, served as the heads of the AutHer Awards jury.

Vikram Sampath stated the following while discussing his nonfiction jury chair experience: "Being in charge of the nonfiction jury for the exceptional AutHer awards, which honour the greatest Indian women authors today, was a true honour.

The large and diverse selection of books in this category, including biographies, history, memoirs, modern societal concerns, and politics, fascinated Ramesh Sharma, Prabha Chandran, and myself as jury members. We had a difficult time focusing on the longlist."

Before the books under consideration made it to the final Jury, they underwent many rounds of screening.

The AutHer Awards' literary director, Vinita Dawra Nangia, stated: "The AutHer Awards are a fantastic celebration of a woman's ability to wield her pen (metaphorically, of course!) The fact that there are more submissions each year assures us that more and more women are utilising writing to express themselves and share their stories.

Although winning prizes isn't the point of writing, the AutHer Awards support and honour all female writers. May the clan of female writers expand!"

This week will see the release of the AutHer Awards Shortlist.

On March 19, 2023, in New Delhi, there will be a big celebration when the winners of the AutHer Awards are revealed. The top winners in the four categories would get cash awards, and a woman author would receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to writing.

Four seasons of originality and genius have been showcased since the beginning of the AutHer Awards in 2018. Women's AutHer Awards' entry method entails soliciting submissions for books released the previous year. Publishers, as well as authors, submit the entries. Before reaching the Jury, the entries are screened at various levels.
